Christy McGee graduated from LCA in 2012. Here is her story.
Life: Reconnected
by Christy McGee
I first attended Life Christian Academy as a preschooler. I loved it—school, my teachers, the whole experience.
But when I reached second grade, my parents and I decided to try public school. We thought a larger school would offer a broader range of programs and opportunities.
Bigger isn’t always better.
Missing something
I did fine in public school, but by seventh grade, I was becoming unhappy. My family was attending church on weekends, but I wasn’t experiencing the one-on-one mentorship from spiritual leaders that I was hearing about from friends who were attending Life Christian.
Teachers in public school can’t talk about Christ with you. Life Christian teachers always make time to hear your questions, talk, and pray with you.
My parents and I decided to re-enroll at LCA for my eighth grade year. I knew right away I had made the right decision.
God has helped me so much in my life through Life Christian.
Back to stay
One of the biggest reasons I’m glad we chose LCA for high school is relationship. Being at Life Christian has brought our entire family closer. We have grown together spiritually and bonded on a deeper level.
I love that my brother [fifth grade] and sister [ninth] get to have a longer LCA experience, and that my whole family could be here together. My mom leads a mentor group at Life Center. And my dad coaches elementary basketball and football, and serves on the Life Christian School Board.
My friends and the staff at Life Christian have also been a huge blessing. My teachers have consistently loved and supported me, not just in academics, but in my spiritual growth as well. It is a huge comfort to know they will pray with me anytime about anything.
What’s next?
I’m excited to be at University of Washington next year.
Even though UW isn’t a Christian school, LCA has laid a strong foundation for my choices of the future. Thanks to that, and the fact that God is with me wherever I go, I am confident I will make good decisions.
