Bible Department
The Academy is committed to the Bible as God's revealed word; therefore
our emphasis in the Bible curriculum is to teach the student to
read and study the Bible for himself and to incorporate Biblical
principles into all facets of their life (Col 3:17). Our approach
is inductive, raising questions necessary to involve the learner
in the text and make valid conclusions from the reading. Our desire
is that the reading and study will lead each student into a deeper
walk with Christ. Each class is geared to bridge the gap from the
Biblical text to the contemporary issues of today.
BIBLE 9th Grade Biblical Truths to Freedom in Christ
In Biblical Truths to Freedom in Christ students will have their
eyes opened to the power of living in obedience to Gods Word.
We will use an NIV Study Bible as the heart of our program as students
learn to live and love the Word of God.
Hebrews 4:12 -For the word of God is living and active. Sharper
than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul
and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes
of the heart.
BIBLE 10th Grade Behold your God
The greatest word in any language is God. The loftiest thought that
the human mind can entertain is God. This study has one purpose-
to encourage students to know their God. It does this by teaching
them that they must learn about God by focusing on His Word and
His works. To know God is to love God, and to love God is to want
to serve Him. This practical study paves the way for genuine, loving
Christian service with the right heart attitude.
BIBLE 11th Grade Proverbs- The Foundation of Life
Proverbs 14:27 says, "The fear of the Lord is a fountain of
life." Just as a fountain has an origin, so do the principles
of right living. In this study, students are confronted with the
origins of rules, conduct and character. From this fountainhead
purs waters the provide nourishment and strength for life. Proverbs-The
Foundation of Life leads students through a multitude of lessons,
taching manu invalubale principles. Rather than being a verse-by-verse
study, these lessons approach the book of Proverbs topically in
two mahor divisions: wisdom defined and wisdom applied th daily
lives.
BIBLE 12th Grade APOLOGETICS/CHRISTIAN ETHICS FULL YEAR
Apologetics: First Semester
This dynamic study is for seniors and is one of two courses
that all seniors take before they leave Life Christian.. This course
is an apologetics course-the study of defending the faith. This
course provides a comprehensive knowledge of the Christian world
view and allows the student to defend, both Biblically and logically,
their faith in Christ. It compares the inconsistencies and fatal
assumptions of secular humanism, the New Age Movement, and other
world views with the truth of Biblical Christianity (Colossians
2:7-8). The curriculum provides a forum for discussing apologetics
in order that the student will understand what and why they believe
as well as equip them to defend it.
Christian Ethics: Second Semester
This study presents a collection of ethical issues that we believe
is vital for the Church today, and especially our young people,
to confront in a radical way. Some of the ethical topics will be:
abortion, sexuality and marriage, euthanasia, homosexuality, capital
punishment, etc. Our approach is neither strictly philosophical
nor exclusively Biblical. It is primarily theological, though we
do interact with philosophical and Biblical ethics at many points.
Theological ethics, like systematic theology, interacts with a variety
of other disciplines as well. Our selection of topics and readings,
however, is controlled theologically, and we engage the other disciplines
where they are relevant to the main agenda. Therefore, each student
will be able to understand, articulate, and ethically defend a Biblical
world view within the cultural marketplace in which they live.
CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP FULL YEAR
Christian Leadership is designed to teach students the skills necessary
to be an effective Christian leader and then give the students the
opportunity to put these skills into place through various programs.
Some of the leadership training that will take place includes: public
speaking, spiritual giftings, time management skills, mentoring,
empowerment, priority training, how to be an influential leader,
service, and team building. Students will lead chapels, plan and
lead the 7th/8th grade retreat, implement the sportsmanship patrol
at athletic events, and serve as big brothers to middle school students.
Experiencing God through the New Testament. (9-12 grade)
This is a New Testament Survey course which highlights the life
lessons and principles of right living demonstrated through the
New Testament. This survey starts with the Book of Acts then travels
through Romans and the Pastoral Epistles. This course also involves
the students in community service projects at such places as the
Tacoma Rescue Mission and Mary Bridge Childrens Hospital were
students learn to apply the service principles discussed in the
classroom.
