What is Tuition Assistance?

Life Chrisitian School & Academy has developed a tuition assistance program that provides financial assistance to families whose personal resources cannot meet the full cost of a Life Christian education. Dollars are available in the form of grants and through our work study program.

What is Financial Need?

Financial need is the difference between the cost of attending Life Chrisitian for one year and the amount of money your family can reasonably expected to contribute toward meeting this expense.

Is need-based Tuition Assistance available only to people with very low incomes?

No, but you must prove eligibility. Some middle to upper-income families qualify. We encourage prospective families to apply for tuition assistance. Since there are many factors involved in the calculation of a student's need, there are no absolute income cut-off levels for eligibility.

Is there some way I may estimate the amount of assistance for which I am eligible?

In order for the school to be as helpful as possible to the largest number of families, Life Christian generally limits its awards to between 10-40% of the year's tuition bill. However, the Tuition Assistance Committee may exceed this standard in exceptional cases.

Keep in mind that all tuition assistance at Life Christian is competitive. The amount of assistance you receive depends on your academic record, your eligibility, and the amount of funds available. Life Christian cannot always meet the family's need, but every effort will be made to assist qualified applicants.

Is Tuition Assistance renewable?

Tuition assistance is renewalbe each year, provided there is satisfactory academic progress and continued financial need. The family's contribution is reassessed each year, and the information the family provides on the Needs Assessment Form determines the amount of yearly assistance each year by submitting an application to theFamily Financial Needs Assessment Company.

The Life Christian Tuition Assistance Committee also considers several other factors in addition to financial need when making the final decision regarding the award amount. Any school balances owed by the applicant from a prior school year must be paid in order for a new application to be considered. Once tuition assistance is awarded, it is only continued as the family receiving aid keeps up with its monthly payments. Continuing good behavior by the student, both in and out of school, is required, or the remainder of the award may be withdrawn upon written notice. Students are required to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and to maintain good attendance records for continuation of tuition assistance. Parents receiving tuition assistance are expected to be actively involved in fundraisers and volunteerism that promotes the school.

What is Family Financial needs assessment?

Life Christian works through Family Financial Needs Assessment (FFNA), an outside assessment agency located in Hernando, Mississippi. FFNA was established to assist Christian schools in determining who qualifies for assistance and how much assistance a school should give to a family. The analysis of the family's financial circumstances, (income, assets, expenses) is the basis of consideration for tuition assistance. The information provided FFNA is confidential and is released only to the Life Christian Tuition Assistance Committee. Our committee then reviews their recommendation and awards are made in utmost confidence.

How do I apply for Tuition Assistance at Life Christian?

When will I hear about my Tuition Assistance Award?

Most families submitting their tuition assistance application by April 1 can expect to be notified in May.

Are there other costs to attending Life Christian School?

Tuition Assistance awards are applied to the cost of tuition only. Examples of other expenses a family may incur are: lunches, extra-curricular activities such as band or athletics, before and after school care, retreats, transportation, and personal expenses which vary considerably among students. These all must be added to reflect the total cost of a Life Christian education. Families are billed monthly on a 11-month billing cycle, beginning in July and ending in April.

How does Life Christian pay for Tuition Assistance?
