1996
HOME VS. CHARLES WRIGHT
EVEN THOUGH WE DID NOT HAVE ANY SENIORS AT OUR SCHOOL YET OR EVEN ANY JUNIORS ON THE BASKETBALL TEAM (ALL FRESHMEN AND SOPHOMORES), WE DECIDED TO PLAY VARSITY THAT YEAR. WE LOST ALL OUR LEAGUE GAMES (13 IN A ROW) TO THE VARSITY TEAMS IN THE NISQUALLY LEAGUE. THE LAST GAME OF THE YEAR WE PLAYED CHARLES WRIGHT AT HOME AND BEAT THEM 56-42. JUDSON LEE HIT 19 POINTS, JOSH DAVIS HAD 16, AND DIONDRAE SLAUGHTER HAD 14.

1997
AT STEILACOOM
PASTOR BUNTAIN CAME IN TO PRAY WITH THE TEAM BEFORE THE GAME. DOWN 29-15 AT HALFTIME. CAME OUT IN THE SECOND HALF PLAYING MAN TO MAN. TOOK THE LEAD WITH 1:30 TO GO AND WON 56-54. THE TNT COVERED THE GAME AND HAD LCA'S FIRST PICTURE (JONATHAN MCCLEARY) AND ARTICLE.

AT VASHON DOUBLE OVERTIME WIN
THE WEEK BEFORE THE VASHON GAME WE HAD LOST A DOUBLE OVERTIME WIN AT HOME TO STEILACOOM. THIS TIME WE WON A DOUBLE OVERTIME GAME AT VASHON. AT ONE POINT WE HAD ALL FRESHMEN IN THE GAME (CALLAWAY, LEE, CORRIGAN, MCCLEARY) IN THE SECOND OVERTIME WHEN JOSH DAVIS AND JUSTIN MURRAY BOTH FOULED OUT. JUSTIN MURRAY RECORDED LCA'S 1ST TRIPLE DOULBE WITH 22 POINTS, 15 REBOUNDS, AND 14 STEALS (ALSO A LCA RECORD). MY WIFE WENT ON THE FERRY TO THE GAME AND THE NEXT DAY DELIVERED MY FIRST CHILD-DAUGHTER ALEXIS (SHE SLEPT THRU THE GAME).

STEILACOOM SUB DISTRICT TOURNEY AT CHARLES WRIGHT
THE PREVIOUS YEAR WE WENT A VARSITY NISQUALLY LEAGUE SCHEDULE WITH ONLY FRESHMEN AND SOPHOMORES ON THE TEAM. THIS YEAR WE HAD 4 JUNIORS ON THE TEAM AND TIED STEILACOOM FOR SECOND PLACE IN LEAGUE (BEHIND FOSTER WHO FINISHED 3RD AT STATE) WITH 10-4 RECORDS. THE TOP TWO TEAMS IN LEAGUE RECEIVED A BYE THE FIRST ROUND OF THE DISTRICT TOURNAMENT, SO LCA AND STEILACOOM NEEDED TO PLAY A TIEBREAKER GAME. THE TIE BREAKER GAME WAS PLAYED AT CHARLES WRIGHT. WITH THE SCORE TIED JORDAN LEE WAS FOULED AND MADE BOTH FREETHROWS WITH 6 SECONDS LEFT. STEILACOOM CALLED A TIME OUT AND THEN RAN AN FULLCOURT OUT OF BOUNDS PLAY. AS THEY WHERE BRINGING THE BALL UP WITH ABOUT 2.5 SECONDS LEFT A FAN FROM OUR SCHOOL LET OFF AN AIR HORN. THE STEILACOOM PLAYER THREW THE BALL UP ON THEIR SIDE OF HALFCOURT AND MISSED THE SHOT. IF THE AIR HORN HAD NOT GONE OFF THE STEILACOOM PLAYER WOULD HAVE STILL BEEN AROUND HALFCOURT. TO THIS DAY STEILACOOM WILL NOT PLAY LIFE CHRISTIAN, BECAUSE OF THIS INCIDENT. BECAUSE OF THE LOSS, IT WAS THE FIRST TIME IN STEILACOOMS 17-YEAR HISTORY THEY DID NOT MAKE THE DISTRICT TOURNAMENT.

2004
HOME VS. SEATTLE CHRISTIAN
The win was the first league loss in 28 games for SCS. They had not lost a league game since the 2001-02 season where they lost to us in overtime. Adam Nelson paced the Eagles with 14 points, Curtis Long 13, Dominick Comery 9, Trevor Nelson 8, and Chris Roddy 8. Both Dominick and Adam lead the team in rebounding with 6. Adam also had 6 blocked shots. Curtis and Trevor combined together to shoot 4-6 from the 3-point line.

AT SEATTLE CHRISTIAN
Defeated the Seattle Christian Warriors on their senior night. This win helped us take over sole possession of first place. Mark Curran came out hot hitting two 3-point shots in the second quarter to open up a six-point lead going into halftime. Mark ended with a team high 14 points. The Warriors ran a box-and-1 defense on Curtis Long trying to stop his penetration (everybody knows we go with Curtis running the point). Adam Nelson started out hot scoring the first six points getting us off to a 6-0 start. The Warriors ended up with a season low 11 points at halftime. Chris Roddy ended up with nine points and Trevor Nelson with 13 (11-14 from the FT. line). The final score was 45-39 (once again holding a team to their season low and under 40 points).

SEATTLE CHRISTIAN LEAGUE TOURNAMENT (LOSER OUT)
We beat Seattle Christian for the third straight time this year in a loser out game at the League Tournament.

HOME VS. KINGS
Defeated Kings at home 55-52 in overtime. We had previously lost to Kings two weeks ago 32-40. This time the boys came out to a fast start going up 10-5 within the first four minutes. At the end of the first quarter the score was 12-7. Kings came out tough in the second quarter outscoring us 9-16 and up two at half. The third quarter started out sloppy for both teams and Kings pulled even further away outscoring us 20-16 in the quarter and taking a seven point lead going into the fourth. With 6 seconds to go Curtis Long drove the lane and threw up a shot that missed Adam Nelson barely missed a tip in at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. Chris Roddy hit a baseline shot to start the overtime and made 2-4 ft's. Curtis Long had 13, Chris Roddy 10, Trevor Nelson 13, and Adam Nelson with 11. Mark Curran and Jered Gates both hit three point shots in the game last night. The Seattle Times had us ranked 11th before beating #8 ranked BCS and #5 ranked Kings this week.

UNIVERSITY PREP DISTRICTS AT LYNWOOD HS
We made the state tournament!! Once again down most of the game by 1-5 points and we came on in the fourth quarter to out score University Prep 21-12 in that period. Freshmen Brandon Thomas stepped up huge grabbing eight boards and finishing with 11 points. He also took to the ball to the basket strong drawing two fouls on their 6'7 senior center. Curtis Long, Trevor Nelson, Mark Curran, and Chris Roddy led a full court press that resulted in four lay ups in the fourth quarter of U-Prep turnovers. Chris Roddy and Adam Nelson ended up with eight points, Mark Curran six, Trevor Nelson four, and Sean Rice three.

It is amazing what a team can accomplish when nobody cares who gets the credit!!!! That has been our motto all year and the kids have been successful because of it.

HOME VS. BELLEVUE CHRISTIAN
One of the best games I have ever been part of. Last time the varsity team went man to man and lost to Bellevue on their homecoming night (by 11 over the Christmas break). This time we played man the entire game and did an awesome job on defense winning by 7 points (should have been 10, but a BCS player hit a 3 point shot off the board at the buzzer). We held a team that is averaging 63 points per game (leading the league) to 11 at half and 42 overall (including a last second 3 point shot that banked in-should have been 39). Chris Roddy lead the charge with 19 points and a great defensive effort on their leading scorer. Trevor Nelson had a great overall game highlighted by a steal at the end for a lay up. Curtis Long was unstoppable penetrating to the basket and dishing with eight overall assist (including some half court passes for lay ups)!! Adam Nelson may be switching over to playing volleyball after handing two BCS players two major swats (or should I say spikes)!!! Adam ended with 8 points and Curtis had 7. Freshmen Dominick Comery came in the second quarter and had four rebounds as well.

LACONNER SUB DISTRICT GAME AT KINGS HS
Down by nine points in the second quarter, junior guard Sean Rice hit three NBA three point shots to tie the game. Down by one point with :48 left in the game we ran a back door play to Trevor Nelson for a lay up. Freshmen Brandon Thomas took a charge at the other end to gain possession of the ball. LaConner fouled Mark Curran who went to the line and missed the front end of a one-and-one. Their point guard dribbled the length of the floor and missed an elbow jumper at the buzzer.

2005
CHELAN AT CHELAN CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT

This game was a huge win for a young team. Sophomore Brandon Thomas had his first dunk of his career on a steal for a one-hand jam. Behind most of the game, Trevor Nelson pulls up and is fouled while shooting a three point shot. He hits all three free throws. We end up fouling twice and end up with the ball with 4.5 seconds to go with the ball out of bounds three quarters of the floor. Trevor eyes light up as we set up the inbounds play to go to him and tell him to go one-on-one to win the game. Trevor dribbles the ball to the three-point line, goes behind his back, and lays the ball up with 1.3 seconds to go to win the game. Trevor ends up with ten points and Senior Sean Rice hits 18 points to lead the team. Final score 46-45.

NORTH MASON HOME
North Mason was picked pre-season to win the Nisqually League title. Sophomore Tyler Hjelseth does and outstanding job of guarding their leading scorer. Tyler ends up with 10 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double of his career. Senior Sean Rice has a great shooting night hitting 16 points. Senior Trevor Nelson has to leave the game with under two minutes to get six stitches due to a head on collision with a North Mason player. Brandon Thomas ends up with 9 points. Final score 59-55.

SCS HOME
Seattle Christian came into this game with a chance to automatically go to districts as well as the state tournament. They where also ranked 5th in 1A state. We where down 17-31 at halftime and at one point in the 3rd quarter we where down 18 points (17-35). We switched from man defense to zone in the second half and held Seattle Christian to 8 points for the entire half. They scored only 3 free throws and no field goals in the 4th quarter. We outscored SCS 19-5 in the third quarter and 16-3 in the fourth. Sean Rice had 18pts in the second half off 3-5 from the three-point line (11points in the third quarter). Tyler Hjelseth had 7 boards and 10 points. Trevor Nelson had 13 points (7-11 from the ft line). Brandon Thomas had 8 boards. This win was the fourth in a row vs. SCS and gave us a 14-10 lifetime edge.

2006
AT UNIVERSITY PREP (1ST GAME OF THE YEAR)

Brandon Thomas dominates the game from start to finish-28 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 dunks. At the start of the second half we run a back door alley-oop set to Brandon and he finishes the play with the first ever LCA alley-oop dunk (2 handed jam). We went on to win the game 63-56. Dominick Comery-8pts, Nick Jorgensen-7, and Jered Gates-7 led a balanced scoring attack.
