The HS varsity basketball team (kind of) travelled up to Foster last night and pulled off an impressive 47-42 win over the 2A school. With 4 varsity players (Jamie Scott, Haley Foss, Lauren Barnhart, and Celena Johnson) and 4 JV players (Lucy Wold, Brooke Bennett, Talea Wall, and Katie Johnson) the only ones healthy, the Eagles were in a tough spot to begin with.

These 8 girls played their hearts out, with the freshmen stepping up and having incredible games. Katie Johnson led all players with 14 rebounds, and hit 2 clutch free throws in the final minutes. Celena Johnson shook off a rough start and finished with 9 pts and 6 rebounds, also hitting clutch FT's in the final minutes. Lucy Wold, playing her first varsity game ever, clinched the game with a steal, lay in, and free throw with 4 seconds remaining on the clock. Brooke Bennett, joining in the freshman fun, played a remarkable game defensively and really helped contain the Foster offense.

Combine these efforts with solid play and steady demeanor from Haley and Jamie, and it resulted in a fantastic all-around team win, one in which all 8 players contributed key minutes and were all factors in the win.

The girls have their first league game Friday at Bellevue Christian.

Congrats to the varsity girls who won 78-23 over 2A Klahowya last night. All of the girls scored, but Jamie Scott had a super hot night shooting, hitting 8 three pointers (school record) and finishing with 35 points (school record and a shattered career high for her) and she topped it off with 5 assists. Haley Foss added 10 points, Jenn Peterson had 9 points and 11 rebounds and GraceC McGriff had 8 points and 7 rebounds. Celena Johnson also chipped in with 9 rebounds and 6 steals. Obviously it was a great team effort. We travel all the way to Concrete tonight, so wish us well.
