Below is a copy of the Life Christian
Academy Track and Field Participation
Contract that each LCA track and field
athlete must sign in order to participate
each year. Here are the guidelines and
team rules in our contract.
As coaches, we are dedicated to providing
you with the best training, advice,
guidance, and leadership that we possibly
can. We will do our best to model for
you successful Christian athletes and
Christian character. We consider it
an honor to coach at Life Christian,
and we believe it is a privilege to
compete for Life Christian. Please read
the following statements, and if you
agree, have yourself and a guardian
sign it. If you do not agree, please
come see Coach Thomson to see if any
misunderstandings can be cleared up
so that you may participate.
I. This is a team
A. I will only speak positively about
a teammate or coach
B. I will not question my coaches to
anybody other than my coach
C. I will encourage all of my competitors,
never trash talking them.
D. I will cheer on and support my teammates
during the meets. I won't leave the
meets early even if I am done competing
for the day. Leaving a meet early, even
if I have signed out with the coach,
will result in a 5 point deduction from
my letter score.
II. I am participating in
track and field by choice
A. During the season, track and field
is my top time priority from 3:00-5:30
each day. I will not skip practices
for any reasons not pre-approved by
the coaches.
B. If I must miss a practice, it is
MY responsibility to let the coaches
know no later than lunch that day. This
is not the duty of a friend or a teammate.
I understand that this does not guarantee
that the absence will be excused. There
will be NO excused absences if it is
not cleared with a coach first.
C. If I am absent from school, I understand
that I cannot participate in practices
or meets unless cleared through the
school administration in advance.
D. If I miss more than one practice
in a week, unless they are excused,
I understand that I will not participate
in the next competition. More than 5
unexcused absences, or 2 missed meets
will forfeit my right to be part of
the team.
E. If my grades or school work keeps
me from a practice or a meet, I will
bring a signed note from my guardian
or teacher explaining the situation.
I am a student-athlete, with the student
coming first. Missing a meet due to
grades will deduct 20 points from my
letter score.
III. Coach Thomson makes the final
decisions
A. I understand that while I may dislike
a particular event, or I may want to
specialize in an event, Coach Thomson
makes the decisions as to where I'll
compete. I will compete in all events
for which I have been entered. Relays
are a privilege, not a right. Coach
Thomson will determine who runs the
relays based on speed, work ethic, attitude,
and reliability.
B. Skipping an event for which I've
been entered will deduct 15 points from
my letter score.
IV. I am representing God, Life
Christian, my coaches, and my team
A. I will respect all members of my
team, as well as the members and coaches
of the competition.
B. I will be in uniform at every meet.
Without the proper uniform and warm-ups,
I will not compete and be considered
absent from the meet.
C. I will travel to and from all practices
and meets with the team. I understand
that my ONLY 2 options are to return
with the team or with MY PARENTS. If
I return with my parents, they will
first sign a travel waiver form and
I will make sure that the coaches know
I am leaving. I CANNOT go home with
anybody else's parents, siblings, or
friends, under any circumstance.
D. I will honor God in all of my behavior.
At meets, practices, restaurants, in
school, everywhere, I will act in a
manner appropriate for a Christian school.
V. I understand that any violation
of team rules, or any conduct that does
not represent the ideals of my school
and this team, will result in suspension
or dismissal from this team.
