Spiritual Emphasis
for Lower School
| Wednesday mornings in the lower school
are exciting days--we gather in the sanctuary for two age group
chapel programs, grades K-2 meet from 9:00-9:30 and grades 3-5
meet from 9:45-10:15. Every chapel includes a time of singing,
prayer, pledges and instruction. Parents are always welcome!

Special chapels throughout the year include a Missions emphasis
in October with missionaries from around the world followed
by Operation Christmas Child in November where we collect
more than 500 shoeboxes to be sent to children in some of
the poorest nations. Veterans Day often includes a military
color guard and visits from Military personnel on and off
our campus. Martin Luther King Chapel brings in guest speakers
and a commitment to understand and appreciate our differences.

| In May we kickoff our annual Teddy Bear Drive,
collecting hundreds of stuffed animals to donate to our Law
Enforcement officers and firefighters to give to children in
times of crisis. We also bring in talented individuals such
as singer Eric Ode, John Fox the Yo-Yo man and our favorite
storyteller and actor David Shelton. |
At the beginning of each week we introduce a chracter theme
for the month. Guest speakers and students develop the instrcution
and plans for chapel. Our headmaster, Ross Hjelseth presents
several chapels explaining our school theme for the year. Our
last chapel of the year is our very special Award's Day--each
student is recognized for their special talents, gifts and abilities.

| In addition each individual classroom has the
opportunity to lead us in a chapel program. These range from
mini-musicals, plays, singing, memory verses, to human videos
and more. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Good Friday chapels are
highlights of the year as we combine with the upper school to
celebrate these important holidays with a variety of choirs,
drama presentations, and words of encouragement from Life Center
pastor Dean Curry. |
