Title 1 - "No Child Left Behind"
Title 1 is a federally funded program and it is part of the "No Child Left Behind" program enacted by President Bush. Each child is qualified based on their home address and the elementary school servicing that address. Children come to Title 1 for 20 minutes each day. They work on their own individualized computer program for either Math or Reading, or both. Title 1 also offers one on one tutoring for Math or Reading. Title 1 encourages progress through repetition and advancement through the program. It is a wonderful program for the student who needs just a little extra encouragement.

EXEL - Excellence in Experiential Learning
EXEL: The EXEL Program (Excellence in Experiential Learning) currently involves 158 students in grades K-5. EXEL is about "learning by doing". The program covers 5 subjects: Journalism, Creative Writing, Science, Drama and Math. Fourth and fifth grade students are learning about journalism by writing and publishing the elementary newspaper called The Eagles Nest. The Young Writers Guild for grades 1-3 gives students the opportunity to write and present their work to members of our school and the local community. Weird Science for grades 1-5 allows the young scientist to conduct their own experiments to learn about chemistry, physics, rockets and other fascinating topics. The Drama Club (grades 4 and 5) is working diligently to prepare for their performance of The Emperor's New Clothes the end of May. First through third graders who love math enjoy participating in Brainiacs where weekly they get to play math games and develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills...don't tell them it's educational...they just think they are having fun!
